Visit Tondi Shooting Range

Shooting is a precision activity built on small, controlled movements: sight alignment, breathing, a smooth trigger press, and constant awareness of where the muzzle points. Alcohol interferes with every one of those. The Estonian Firearm Owners’ Union notes that even a small amount of alcohol can affect situation assessment, decision-making, vision, aiming, reaction and trigger control. That is the list of things a shooter needs most.

There is also a less obvious problem: confidence. A person who has had two beers often feels fine. That gap between how you feel and how you perform is exactly what makes a firearm dangerous in the hands of a first-timer who wants to impress friends.

If you are new to this, our guide on firearm safety rules explained for responsible owners covers the habits that every shooter follows, sober, every time.

The Weapons Act (Relvaseadus) is clear on the principle. Section 50 (3) prohibits carrying a weapon or ammunition while intoxicated by alcohol, narcotic, psychotropic or psychotoxic substances, and the same act treats it as a punishable offense. It also gives the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) grounds to suspend or revoke the permits of licensed owners. The wording does not distinguish between a resident with a permit, a tourist, or a recreational shooter on a guided session. Check the current consolidated text on Riigi Teataja for the latest wording.

The national regulation on shooting ranges and shooting safety adds a second layer. Under it, shooters must follow the instructor’s commands, and shooting must stop when a safety hazard appears. The shooter must also unload the firearm after the last shot or when the responsible person commands it. In practice this means the instructor in your lane has both the authority and the duty to stop you.

We are a range, not a lawyer’s office, so if you hold a permit and have a specific legal question, the PPA is the body to ask.

Our rule is simple and we apply it the same way to everyone:

The range is indoors, which makes the experience predictable: the same lighting, the same temperature, and clear lane rules whatever the weather over Tallinn. You can read more about what a session looks like on our page about shooting at the range.

It happens, especially with groups that meet at a bar first. The person who has been drinking sits out, while the rest of the group continues. We would rather lose one participant for the day than put anyone at risk. If you suspect part of your group will arrive after a long lunch, tell us when you book and we can suggest a schedule that keeps the shooting first.

The role of the instructor is not just to teach you to hit the target. It is to keep the room safe. If you want to see what that involves, read about the role of a shooting instructor and why professional instruction matters. A sober, focused participant is also a better shooter: you will enjoy the session more and hit more of what you aim at.

A shooting session is one of the more memorable ways to start a bachelor or bachelorette party in Tallinn. The trick is the order of the evening.

A good running order:

This order works well socially too. Nobody is nervous, the group bonds over a shared challenge, and the best-shot competition gives you stories for the rest of the night. The groom (or the bride) gets the bragging rights, and everyone gets a cleaner photo album.

The same logic applies to birthdays and date nights. If you are buying a gift, look at our gift cards. The experiences range from Minu esimene pauk at €45, a gentle first-time option, to Dünaamiline Duo at €105 and VIP Duo at €168 for two. For a parent and teenager or grandparent, Juunior ja seenior is €55. Hand over the card with a bottle of something for afterwards, rather than before.

Company outings often come with a drinks reception, a dinner or a sauna evening. When a shooting session is part of the program, the rule is the same: the shooting block comes first and stays alcohol-free for everyone, including managers and guests. A few practical tips for organizers:

Our corporate formats include Turvaline ettevõte from €80 per person, Vali ise kolleegidele pakett from €25 per person, and an introductory drone course for companies from €85 per person. Details are on the events page. For planning help, see why a shooting range works for team building in Tallinn, the no-experience corporate event guide, and our cost planner for team events. If you are organizing for the winter months, indoor winter team event ideas will help.

A shared challenge that demands clear heads is also what makes the format work for communication and trust. Participants usually leave with more confidence than they came with, and that depends on everyone being fully present.

If you are visiting Estonia, you may be coming from a stag weekend or a day of sightseeing with a few drinks along the way. The legal prohibition on carrying a firearm while intoxicated does not carve out an exception for visitors, and our rule at the range does not either.

Some practical advice for visitors:

Yes, in the right place. Once you have left the range and the firearms are put away, the evening is yours. In Estonia, drinking alcohol in public places is generally prohibited unless a statutory or local-government exception applies, according to the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA) guidance on alcohol at public venues. Whether you can drink at a given publicly accessible venue depends on its status and local rules. So head to a licensed bar or restaurant in town rather than opening a bottle on the way out.

The Alcohol Act also works in your favor: licensed sellers may not serve a person who shows signs of intoxication, so a good venue will look after you as well. Tallinn’s Old Town is a short ride from the range, with plenty of places for a post-shoot dinner.

To get the most out of your time on the lane:

If you want to practice before you come, our dry fire practice guide for beginners and pistol shooting drills for beginners are good places to start. Once you are on the range, trigger control basics and a review of common handgun mistakes will help you see progress quickly. A clear head is what makes all of it work.

Licensed owners follow the same alcohol rule, and the consequences are bigger, since a violation can affect a permit. If you hold a license and want a place to train, we offer range rental, multi-visit cards (10x for €150, 20x for €200), and a handling course for €175. The details are on our page for firearm owners. Our ammunition guide explains what the law says about the types you can use.

Whether it is a bachelor party, a birthday, a date, a team day or a first visit on a trip to Tallinn, we make it easy. No experience is required, professional instructors supervise every session, safety training is included, and the range is indoors with a wide selection of firearms to try. Browse the gift cards and experience packages or the group and corporate events and pick a date. Come sober, shoot first, and raise your glass afterwards.

No. We have zero tolerance for alcohol while firearms are being handled, and that includes a single drink. Our instructors can refuse participation if they believe someone is not fit to shoot. Save the drink for after the session.

The Weapons Act prohibits carrying a weapon or ammunition while intoxicated, and it makes this a punishable act. This applies to residents, tourists and permit holders alike. For a supervised session at a range, the safest and simplest rule is to arrive sober.

That person will not shoot, but the rest of the group can continue. Tell us when you book if you expect part of the group to arrive late, and we will help you arrange the schedule. Under the shooting-safety regulation, instructors must stop shooting when danger arises.

Plan the celebration away from the range. Alcohol in public places in Estonia is generally prohibited unless an exception applies, so the easiest solution is a licensed bar or restaurant in town. If you have questions about your event, contact us before booking.

No. Beginners are welcome, safety training is included, and an instructor supervises the whole session. Packages for bachelor parties start from €25 per person.

Can you drink before shooting at a range in Estonia? The short answer is no.
